MARIE-SOPHIE TERRIEN
(1853-1932)

â€‹â€‹Marie was the youngest, born to Remi Terrien (1808-1877) and Flavie Daigle (1812-1868). Her baptism took place in St-Antoine-de-Tilly, February 20, 1852, which at the time was the parish to which the family belonged. She was from a family of eleven, of which she was one of three girls.

â€‹â€‹This time of growth in Quebec would have seen rural areas becoming villages and churches would have been popping up everywhere in the county of Lotbinière.

â€‹â€‹The family were farmers, showing that they remained in the same area on their farm. When Marie married Arcade Côté in 1872 in the village of St-Apollinaire, this would indicate where the farm was located.

â€‹â€‹The area settled long before 1850, but Saint-Apollinaire was only founded in 1855, after the territory detached from Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly.

Remi Terrien moved from St-Nicolas when he married Flavie, but her Daigle family settled in Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly, in the early 1700s. When her second great-grandfather settled there.
